Visiting Senior Research Scientist
M.S. degree in engineering science from National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan in 2008
Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan in February of 2012
Lun-De Liao received his M.S. degree in engineering science from National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan in 2008 and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan in February of 2012. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Brain Research Center (BRC) in NCTU. He proposed the world first bio-inspired dry EEG sensors and their corresponding circuit to intelligent image the human brain under the guidance of Prof. Chin-Teng Lin (FIEEE) at BRC in NCTU, Taiwan. He is the co-founder of MINDO Company for products in wearable and wireless EEG device (http://mindo.com.tw/). He was a Research Scientist in Singapore Institute for Neurotechnology (SINAPSE) at National University of Singapore from Aug 2012-May 2014. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist and Head of the Neurophotonics Group at SINAPSE. Since March 2015, he served as the Head of Publicity/Memberships for The Society for Neuroscience (SfN), Singapore Chapter, providing membership service to SfN members in Singapore. He has published over 50 SCI peer-reviewed journal papers and 12 patents, including Nature J of Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism, Nature Scientific Reports, Proceedings of the IEEE, Small, and Neuroimage journals. He was the recipient of the 1st place of 2011 Young Investigator's Awards from the world association for Chinese biomedical engineers for his contributions on medical imaging & bioelectronics domain. He was also selected as an Outstanding Research Award of 2012 from National Chiao Tung University, for his outstanding research performance. In 2014, he was selected as First Place of IFMBE Young Investigator Award from IFMBE society.
He also served on Organization Committee and Technical Program Committee of many flagship international conferences and workshops, including IEEE BioCAS, IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, International Neurotechnology Consortium workshop and IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems. He currently serves as Founding Editors-in-Chief of Journal of Neuroscience and Neuroengineering, also an Associate Editors of the Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (SCI journal); Advanced Science, Engineering and Medicine (SCI journal).
In recent years, his research interests include Neurovascular imaging, Neuroimaging, Optics to neuroscience and advanced sensing techniques. His research lab in SINASPE focuses on applying innovative in-vivo optical imaging technologies to study neurovascular functions in the nerve and the brain, with an ultimate goal of translating pre-clinical development to early clinical testing of novel therapeutics. His lab is seeking highly motivated interns, FYP, PhD students and visiting fellows interested in "Optics to Neuroscience" researches. Please contact Dr. Liao directly if you are interested.
